Help feature
It seemed this post got lost in the thread "New Account Locks" (since it change into a rushing topic) yet I believe is a great idea. And people can't really complain about it because it's not preventing them from doing anything. It's just a helpful suggestion which can be ignored but helps the newer player understand which way they need to go, if they want to go along with the story.

agreed with OT.
However, since some have brought up points about non-linear game play, how about this as a simple solution:
When a charcter leaves a town or enters a new area outside of the normal mission directions, maybe there should be a promt informing them that it may be best for them to be such a lvl before entering this area or that they could skip some of the long walks by doing mission X (nolain, frost gate, the Wilds).
New people are informed at least and experinced players can ignore.

Or if you have nothing in your log, say someone did all the quests in the area, it says something like "Look for bolis pass"..... which leads to my next suggestion.
A pop-up when you enter the first mission area saying something to the effect of "This is a mission area. To enter the mission click on the enter mission button in to party screen. Only party leaders have button." would be nice. I know when I first went to the northern wall, I didn't know what to do. It was by chance that I noticed the "Enter Mission" button. And my boyfriend couldn't help me figure it out because I was the party leader. And show it to everyone not just the party leader. If this is already there I didn't see it. (I had a friend who didn't know where to go after he finished all the quests, and didn't know how to enter the mission because I was the party leader when we did the northern wall)
Another good feature might be a help "button" that explains simple things and if someone wants more detail, it says go buy prima's guide since they'd probably want money from the sale of it. (I don't have access to GW right now and i don't remember a help feature so sorry if there is). An example would be:
Identification Kit: Use this to identify items. Double click on kit then click on the item you want to identify. You can buy kits from merchants.
Runes: Improves attributes or health. Equip to armor to gain effect(double click on rune then click on armor you want to apply it to). Can be salvaged from dropped items or bought from rune trader. Use master salvage kits in order to salvage.
You know you've seen people asking how to identify something don't deny it
I know most people coming here know this, but there's probably a lot of people who don't go to any forums for who this would be helpfully. If the explanations are short enough maybe people will actually read them, and then, hopefully, we can prevent from wanting to bang our heads against the wall when the 5th person asks "what are runes for?" (I know I didn't know what they were for the longest time and when my friend started playing he thought they just dropped as runes, he didn't know you had to salvage them).
Simple yet effective. It doesn't improve game play but it improves getting information to the player, which indirectly improves gameplay by creating more informed players....hopefully. I hope you agree.
